Pole axed.

There were certainly quite a few going for the mantle of winner of the pole axed award (won last year by Smithy and the Girl), but alas, Rowan from Escapade was the only one I got a snap of. So sprung. On Sunday morning he was still putting a few of Humpty Dumpty's pieces together again. What can I say...

But I do need to say this, Rowan was part of the Slinkies from Hobbos that stood by Ingenue in the 2010 M2V and in the process, earned themselves the Seamanship Poster Crew title. So he can sail and he can party. Rowan's apparently particularly fond of the latter, it would seem. Chrissy had to retrieve him from the drink in Vanuatu when he fell in, straight off the boat, whilst seated, no less.

2010_M2G_PoleAxed

Yep. Pole axed. Well done lad.

M2G2010-086 copy

The gang from Escapade were really chuffed with their PHS win and were sporting enough to also relinquish the AMS win, seeing as the new main had not been measured yet. Image with thanks to Teri Dodds.

2010_M2G_Robert_Escapade

ORCV Rear Commodore, Don Fraser, awards Escapade's Skipper, Robert Bradley, with his prizes. Later on, he kept trying to tell me his name was actually Vladimir, so I think he too was in the running... Must have polished off the supplies there.

It pays to advertise.

The first of Steb Fisher's pics are in for us to look at - so no preamble - let's just do the Warner Wolf.

B375M2G10-IV336

Now she said she wanted a lot of really nice pics, so she went about making sure of it. Now, the She is our current FDU poster girl, Patricia Laverty who was driving Graf Spee on the day. It was always going to be the hero pic, it's just that I don't think Wendy (Steb's partner) wears that colour lipstick. Still. Love the thought and yes, it pays to advertise, for you were guaranteed coverage. Oh yes, and AustWide is Particia's signage company... (plug, plug, plug.)

Steb considered this image for a while and then commented that "Heisenberg and Einstein noted that with regard the act of watching, the observer affects the observed reality - this is proof." As for me, I just wonder whether Steb will show this shot to Wendy or not? Hmmmmm.

PS. No wonder it's a wry smile. Clever girl.

Sm5252M2G10-0213

The Birthday Boy, John Williams, behind the wheel, whilst son Bruce seeks inspiration elsewhere. GA just visible behind the hand on the rail. James 'Cyclone' Bacon trims with Brett 'AWOL after 9pm' Avery in the dark glasses - and the night has not even begun for there to be a morning after - yet! Good lad.

B818M2G10-1000

Malcolm Mitchell and the gang have a had a wee spell away from it all, so here's proof that they still know the yachting thing.

B5262M2G10-1024

RaRooooowwwwwwwwww! Roger and Michele Wale's Pretty Woman.

B9797M2G10-0764

You know I always put a shot of Neville 'Nifty' Rose in when I get one. Not only is he on deck, he's even smiling!

FleetM2G10-1300

You've always got to have a fleet shot and here's one for now. It's also a wonderful artsy fartsy number, too! Love your work, son!

G477M2G10-0923

The Sav (Savoir Faire) with the Scotchman's Hill precinct as a backdrop - Nice.

Boy did they get a rousing reception for their win at presentations and I'm starting to work out why...

G3963M2G10-IV135

Here's Cadence.

Sm3500M2G10-IV205

As The Love Boat goes by, He of the Pointy End tries to tell us something. Me thinkey that this could end up being a troublesome image....

Sm50M2G10-IV574

Now what a magnificent shot, huh. Apparently the Committee Boat politely advised Horizon Sprint that they should cut back to the channel at this point, given that their current course would put them on the sand bank - they changed course instantly. You know, they may just have been looking for that bucket of chicken that Simone Hoey bought for them that went over the side when Robbie got the wanders on with the tiller. That's what it was, wasn't it Mitchey???!!!

So that means there is more to come - promise!

ORCV Melbourne to Geelong (M2G on 11/09/10)

Quando. Quando. Quando.

Could be something the band plays, but then, maybe not too.

Now the answer posed by the question is going to be that the Brass are still in a quandary. What to do? Hhhmmmm.

"Well the 1640 forecast has not helped that much, other than going home on Sunday will be very comfortable. Race day has only changed in that the wind is going to be lighter, earlier. The PredictWind models do not agree, so whichever is right will determine what time you get to the bar."

"If you look at the attached PredictWind model, the race straight there will have you finishing too early, which will not allow the Race Management team time for coffee and we just can’t have that, so we will see what the morning brings, but my feel for the moment is Course #2 for Div1 and Course #5 for Div2 Racing. The Cruising fleet will do Course #1."

"Happy Racing"

OK. Thanks for that. Here are some pics and stuff for everyone to work it out in their mind.

Forget the weather - tell me about the party!

All right. We will.

Band starts at 7pm. Drinks start when you get there!!! There will be wine bottles and flags (i.e. awards) before everyone cannot see that far to the podium. (And yes. The Brass did approve that comment.)

If eating is not cheating, then there will be Bar Snacks available approximately half an hour after the fleet arrives and these will be available in the outside bar. They will consist of Party Pies, Party Sausage Rolls, Dim Sims $1, Hot Dogs $5 etc. From 6pm onwards, again at the outside bar, there will be Cheese and Beef Burgers @ $10 and Vegetable Curry on Rice for $12.

From 6.00pm in the Café, there will be Porterhouse Steak @ $15, Chicken Parma for $15 and the two dishes above, as well, all with a salad and condiment buffet included.

Breakfast will be available from 7.30am and consists of a buffet with Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Tomato, Baked Beans, Mushrooms, Toast, Condiments and a Tea/Coffee station for $15.00pp.

Some boats have been allocated pens and these people have already been emailed with the information. Other boats will be met by two escort boats and shown where to raft up or moor. If there is congestion, just be patient. Click HERE for the marina map.

And this is what it looks like from the water.
