Really then, that says it all and the rest is just up to you...

Toecutter - unfortunately for them they took on an awesome amount of water through the for'ard hatch and that put paid to any plans of a win on the day. Would have been hard having sailed such a great Winter Series in 2011 and led up to Race Six. Commiserations team...

Alex McKinnon - Part Three.

We've had new a Women in Sailing pic and discovered two new Seamanship Poster Crews, but we are still on the look for a new Happiest Crew On The Water. It's not a one-off thing, but rather a prolonged set of events or type of activity.

Bombora are on the radar for the gig, so it was interesting to see This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.'s © pics pf crews as they approached the finish line of the 2011 Melbourne to Geelong event. If you could be happy whilst that cold and wet, you'd have to be in with a chance!!!

ORCV Addiction Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_5698

ORCV regulars, Addiction.

ORCV Alibi Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_5686

Mostly chuffed on Alibi - bet if they knew at the time that they'd taken the trifect of IRC, AMS and PHS for their day's work they'd be a bit more animated, however. Dennis Hambleton was at the presentations....

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6067ORCV Dry White Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_5984

ORCV Vice Commodore, Simon Dryden, does Conehead, John Donati does the quick glance and Niesje Hees (part of the Etchells gang) does incognito aboard Dry White.

ORCV Geelong Challenge ©Alex McKinnon_5932

Speaking of The Etchells Gang, here's Mark 'Perfect Balance' Bulka driving Lou Abrahams' Challenge - it's Lou behind him, in fact...

ORCV Geelong Kerina ©Alex McKinnon_5771

Proving that it may have been cold, but it was a great excuse to get the boat out of the pen is Kerina. Per Bengtzen and co got a first in PHS, Cruising for their troubles, too.

ORCV Geelong Magic ©Alex McKinnon_6048

Phil Spry-Bailey's Magic do so many events and they always come back, so we'll definitely keep an eye on you, too...

ORCV Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_5835

Paul Commins and the crew of Dionysos got a second in PHS, Cruising. We will certainly see what you get up to and catch you for the Boxing Day Dash, if not beforehand.

ORCV Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_6032

Chris Tucker's Halcyon are well pleased - we'll keep an eye on you lot...

ORCV Schuess Geelong ©Alex McKinnon_5903

From on board Schüss it's like, "We're really happy. Really. Don't mind him, that's his happy face!"

So the search for the new HCOTW continues, but at least we have a few extra boats to be on the look out for as the Summer season gets ready to break the ice. Remember, we are looking...

Odds - not Sods...

It was not a case of odds and sods in the weekend's Melbourne to Geelong event, but there were certainly plenty of sodden sailors and gear once they got to RGYC.

Susan Halliwell sails aboard one of our current Seamanship Poster Crews, Joint Venture, and she turned in some great images for us. Given that we had bow on images of crews getting murdered by waves, it was particularly pleasing to see what it it was like for you, on board!

Halliwell_JV_WaterOverDeck

Great work to get it just before it hits, Sue. Looks like Fawkner Beacon in the background...

Halliwell_JV_MomentsRespite

A moment's repsite....

Halliwell_JV_HeadsDucked

Heads turned in preparation for the next one!

Halliwell_JV_ReturnVoyage

Zoe the Wonder Pooch thought the return voyage to RBYC was far preferable...

Now what would a piece about odds and sods be without changing the subject and showing some more of the presentation images? Not living up to the title, that's what... Many thanks to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for taking the presentation images for us.

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6082

Former RGYC Commodore, John Kint, brought Bundaberg out again for the M2G and got Line Honours to boot with an elapsed time of 05:20:23!

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6084

Geelong's Malcolm Eaton is another who's been very supportive of the the M2G. This year, Gomez got third in AMS, Cruising.

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6090

ORCV regular, Peter Chalkley collects the loot for Hush's AMS, Cruising win. They got the boat home in eighth place behind some much bigger vessels.

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6091

Galaxy's Robert Ciolli is another of the band that have taken to the M2G and get the boat out of the pen each year for it.  Third in PHS, Cruising was their reward this year.

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6095

Dionysos was second in PHS, Cruising. Paul Commins and crew are another who have very much taken to being a part of the M2G. Cheers.

ORCV_Presentation_Alex_McKinnon_6065

Third in Div2 AMS was The Secretary. Here, Immediate Past Commodore, George Shaw shows he's still super happy with it all.

Understand we have more still...

Teri Dodds - Part Three.

Teri Dodds delivers her last series of sensational © pics from the boats arriving in to Corio Bay, as the 2011 Melbourne to Geelong got close to finishing.

ORCV_WS2011_100911-TD-285_Gomez

Malcolm Eaton brought the Adams 10 out, having done the event last year with 'The Sav', his Beneteau 47.7. They got a third in AMS Cruising on the day, this year, but won last year. Guess we know which boat will be out next year.... (Heady halyard tension needs attention - Basil Brush).

ORCV_WS2011_100911-TD-522_Halcyon

ORCV_WS2011_100911-TD-390_Chutzpah38

Chutzpah were all over the first Colt home, Challenge, and after the entire trip to Geelong were just three minutes astern. Love a bit of One Design.

ORCV_WS2011_100911-TD-413_Cinquante

Another of the Colts (Cinquante from Geelong) with our mate Bully on board, who would have been happy to see that with two busted mainsails amongst the retirees from the fleet, that it was certainly a CVD (Commercially Viable Day) out there.

Thank you, Teri. Much appreciated!
