And if you didn't see the first post, here it is again! Due to the overwhelming success of our Adventure Safety Facebook Competition during the King Island Race in March, we have decided to run it once again, for a chance for you to win another ION Pro HD action Video Camera, from our great sponsors, Adventure Safety.

All you have to do is submit your photo and video posts to our Facebook Page throughout this weekend, starting from when you arrive at the boat, up until you are home and tied up safely.

The winner of the King Island competition was Biddy Hu II and you can see their submissions HERE.

So, Let's get creative!

APOLLO BAY RACE

The Apollo Bay Race got under way at 0700 Saturday morning after a 30 minute delay due to inbound traffic. The fleet was enjoying 10-15 knot SW winds with intermittent, but clearing rain. The early leader was Shamrock with several boats bunched up not far behind

Apollo Bay Weather Update

Well, true to form the weather gods are still keeping us guessing! Winds have freshened a bit but more

importantly have shifted to the west so no more great beam reaches and more on the nose now.

The two PredictWind models are quite different early on so something for the naviguessers to get their

teeth into maybe.

An early Saturday afternoon finish for the Beneteau 40's. The BOM explorer site currently shows a bit more wind

but the same general  pattern; south westerly, stronger off-shore

Testing conditions for this year's Apollo Bay Race

This weekend's race to Apollo Bay doesn't look like we are going to have any records broken. So with light wind tactics are going to be important. As this is the last race of the Offshore Championship the scores are close. In AMS Addiction and Bandit are separated by a point, in IRC Bandit and Dry white are separated by 5 and in PHS Addiction and Matrix are separated by 4 points. Although the 2012 Apollo Bay race got off to a great start in a fresh breeze – the breeze soon faded by early afternoon which made it tough going for the tail enders. The fastest boat Dekadence, skippered by Ken Simpson, finished at 16:00:02 hours with the majority of the fleet coming in a few hours later.  Nearly all the boats had crossed the finish line by 21:30 hrs with the final boat drifting in at 01:00:56 hrs.
