16:00 Port Fairy race update- Reshuffle in the middle order.

The leaders have not changed but there has been a reshuffle in the middle order.

Dekadence is still in the lead and now has less than 33 miles to go to the finish line.  In this position Dekadence is only 1 mile off shore and 2 miles ahead of a pair of boats tussling it out for second place.

Wind freshening around the Cape!

All boats in the 2012 Port Fairy race are relishing the wonderful conditions this morning  as they race down the surf coast with spinnakers flying.  The winds are now freshening as expected with 25k west north westerly winds reported by Fantasea of Man just before they were forced to retire with a jammed jib furler.

The Secretary is away with the fairies!

Crews in this years Melbourne to Port Fairy race are enjoying “t-shirt and shorts” weather as they approach Cape Otway this morning after a comfortable nights sail. The morning view from The Secretary looks good and the crew are away with the fairies!

By the light of the silvery moon!

The  fleet danced by the light of the silvery moon last night as they ran along the coast under spinnakers’ in glorious full moonlight and a light following breeze.

Time for a cuppa before the start of the Port Fairy Race!

Today, in the late balmy afternoon sunshine, the crew of Yoko seemed very relaxed as they made their final preparations to the boat for the Port Fairy Race.  While crew member, Terry Barridge, was busy adjusting the forestay, skipper Robin Hewitt  called “time for a cuppa”.
