Safety and Sea Survival

SSS Full and Revalidation Courses in May

Have you been in a liferaft before or even tried to get in one with a PFD on? Maybe it is better to try it in a safe controlled environment rather than at night, in a storm, at sea. Similarly using flares. Learn about what you and your fellow crew can do to make your trip off shore safer.

Join the pool of SSS sailors!

2014 March Safety & Sea Survival Course

Next course 1st & 2nd March, 2014

The SSSC course is an internationally recognized and accredited course that covers basic aspects of weather, boat/crew preparation, communications, man overboard and other typical emergencies.
With the King Island race fast approaching on the 8th March 2014 (Labour Day weekend) and the Vanuatu Race and Cruising Rally (29th June, 2014), it is a good time for seasoned skippers and crew members to renew their certificates or for those crew new to ocean sailing to ENROL in this worthwhile and valuable course.
The SSSC certificate is issued by Yachting Australia and is valid for five years.
A must have for any serious ocean sailor.

Moved to avoid the clash with the AFL GRAND FINAL!

Celebrate your Sailing and your Footy too!  The ORCV have moved the September SSSC forward a week to the 21st & 22nd of September 2013.  Now sailors and footy fans can immerse themselves in the pool, as well as, learn about safety and survival the week before immersing themselves in the footy and the associated liquid.

Imagine having all that training in survival and safety before your activities with the ocean of liquid you may encounter the following weekend. Register for your training early  HERE
