Ray Shaw and his crew experienced a rudder bearing problem in the seas south of Cowes and decided it was better to turn back than risk problems further in the race.

Everyone on board is safe and well and the boat is not taking on water, although this will be a huge disappointment to XLR8 after being up the front of the fleet.
