Telstra have published coverage maps for offshore use.

As for all coverage maps they are a guide - not a guarantee and are also dependent upon the equipment and aerial systems in use.

Have used the talstra network on 2 occasions to Hobart East with a high gain 3G antenna and had coverage all the way to Hobart for Data and phone Not a mast head but on the Bimminy steel.
The only place with no coverage was Refuge on the return trip.
