2007 Latitude Mentoring Race Series

Note Date updates

The ORCV is proud to announce the addition of a 3rd race to the Latitude Mentoring Series in 2007 - The Latitude Overnight Race will be run in conjunction with the RMYS NavMan Big Bay Challenge.

The Latitude Mentoring Race Series provides unique tactical and navigation challenges for ocean racers of all levels and a competitor support program, including on and off water mentoring and seminars tailored for the transition from 'Round the Sticks' Bay racing to Ocean Racing, for ocean racing beginners.

The ORCV ocean racing calendar has a well designed range of short, medium and long distance ocean races that competitors can progress through.  The Latitude Mentoring Race Series further enhances the racing calendar at the lower end of the scale and is an ideal introduction into the exciting sport of ocean yacht racing.

An initial briefing session is scheduled for 7.00 PM Thursday March 15th, at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron, where experienced mentors will be allocated to boats as required. Skippers and crew will receive a briefing on the Latitude training package and Latitude series, with particular emphasis on night racing and navigation relevant to the Overnight Race.

The 2007 Latitude Mentoring Race Series will comprise the following three events:

A) Latitude Overnight Race - March 17th
