Firstly we hope you have a safe and enjoyable Christmas. For those sailing, stay safe and have fun. Keep an eye on the ORCV web site (www.orcv.org.au) and follow the Melbourne to Devonport and Melbourne to Hobart (Westcoaster) races. We have two 2 handed competitors in the M2HW race including "Lord Jiminy" an Osaka entrant.
Entrants and wait-listers would have received notification of a NoR amendment. Also keep 14/2 free for the next Competitor Webinar. Like all webinars it will be recorded and can be replayed from our "videos" page on the www.melbourneosaka.com web site.
We continue to work on berthing plans to extend fleet numbers but cannot yet comit to an extension of numbers. One of our organising committee was recently in Osaka to continue discussions and planning.
We are watching with interest the Vendee Globe 2016 and wish competitors safe journeys as they continue through the Southern Ocean. As wll as being exciting, we have learnt a lot from it (from a media perspective) and note that to win, you must first finish. There have been a lot of retirements.
We will be keeping track of any interested co-skippers, email firstname.lastname@example.org, meanwhile we have a request from Steve Ho, a Hong Kong entrant (with Australian connections) on his Felci 45 "Surf Dude". Its a very cool spinnaker graphic, see photo below. Steve is looking for a like minded sailor with shared objectives (fast, fun and safe race). Steve needs someone with significant off shore experience, who can do all roles on the boat. They would need to be willing to gain all required qualifications (SSSC, 1st Aid etc) and contribute to the preparations and lead up races. Steve is looking at Hong Kong to Vietnam and/or Hong Kong to Phillipines plus maybe a 2017 Sydney to Hobart crewed. Those interested can contact Steve via Email email@example.com.
