2013 Double Handed Race Teams Trophy

There are 22 entrants for Sunday’s Double Handed event and we have received nominations from SYC and RBYC to compete for the Perpetual Teams Trophy.
Winner in 2012 was Hobsons Bay Yacht Club – so here is the challenge for them to nominate and defend their title!

Notice of Race 8.2 The Perpetual Teams Trophy will be awarded to the team of yachts with the lowest total score calculated from AMS, IRC or Performance Handicap Divisions.
Results from any division may count, although yachts entered in multiple divisions may only count one result. Teams may consist of up to four yachts with the best three results to count.
Yachts will be scored as per RRS A4. Skippers should indicate on their entry that they form part of a team, and if so, the team name. There is no charge for a team entry.

ORCV Racing - Double Handed and Apollo Bay

Yes it is hard to concentrate on the ORCV racing calendar with the finish of the Osaka Cup imminent, but don’t forget the Double-Handed  and Apollo Bay races are just around the corner.
There are twelve entrants in the Double Handed race and the competition is shaping up to provide a close contest and plenty of fun. The race starts at 1000hrs on Sunday 5th May 2013 from the Royal Brighton Yacht Club race tower. Entries close Wednesday 1st May 2013. Give it a try – it is only 24.5nm - you can do it!
Apollo Bay is a 52nm race ideal for those new to ocean racing with its’ shorter length and proximity to the coast. So, if you have participated in the ORCV Rip Tour and Latitude race, this is the next step for you! This is a Cat 3+ race- a liferaft is required.

Have you forgotten about the other Double-Handed race?

In all the excitement of following the Osaka Cup have you forgotten to enter the ORCV Double-Handed Race on Sunday 5th May 2013?
This 24 nm race around fixed and laid marks on the Bay provides a challenge to those who wish to test themselves at short -handed sailing and is valuable training for those who are contemplating competing in the Double-Handed division of longer club events.
Ikon is out to defend his Line honours and IRC win in 2012. Streetcar have been a regular entrant in the Double-Handed division for offshore races this season- perhaps they are preparing for Vanuatu in 2014! White Noise, Wicked and Dionysos are on the entry list. So join in the fun NOW.

HBYC wins Double-handed Perpetual Teams’ Trophy.

After a hiatus of five years, the Perpetual Teams’ Trophy has been awarded to The Hobson’s Bay Yacht Club (HBYC).  The winning  team  was made up of Ikon, Le Casadeur, Assailant and Airframe.
