ORCV and the FDU

15 Minutes of Fame

Thanks to Greg Clinnick for alerting our FDU Poster Boy to the picture on the site and our request to find out who he is.

OK. The Bowman lecturing from on high, up on his pulpit aboard 'Auducious', is one Michael Stephens. In his very Matt Burton-esque style of email response, Michael indicates he honestly cannot remember why he was in sermon mode. So, without getting the whole of the FDU pinging me with comments, I think it's more like the usual Bowman, "...time to exercise my vocal cords at every chance I can get or create"....

Michael does give us three possible reasons as to why we now have such a fantastic FDU Poster Boy:

1. Conducting avian style Public Relations with 'Sierra Chainsaw'
2. Herocially saving 'Audacious' from a massive Chinese gybe and
3. Counting down the seconds until they tore the new masthead kite to shreds
4. (Editor) Of course, it is just possible that he was in fact performing his version of the opening dance sequences from the movie and TV series, "Fame", for his fellow Crewmembers and cannot admit to it (yet)...

At any rate, it is great to know that you, the competitors, are enjoying your ORCV website and I cannot wait to interview Michael at some point. And finally then, a big thank you to all of you pointy end legends, that do such a good job each race (suck, suck, suck).
